For those of you who remember my thread from a few weeks ago.
I got a notice from the IRS that my return had been adjusted to reflect a 300 dollar additional return in my favor. At that time, I didn't know exactly why this occurred, yet I was happy to get another 300 bucks. Moreover, you'll remember that I didn't know if I made a mistake on my tax return or if Turbo Tax had a bug, since I double checked the numbers and found no error. Here is verbatim what the IRS told me in a letter I received today: We changed the amount claimed as Making Work Pay and Government Retiree Credit on line 40, Form 1040A. The amount used on line 10, Schedule M when computing the total amount for Making Work Pay and Government Retiree Credit is not the amount received as an economic payment in 2009 from the Social Security Administration, Rail Road Retirement Board, or Veterans Administration.
I have no freaking idea what that means, but points to me inputting the wrong numbers I suppose. Just something for some of you guys to watch on your return. Have a great day out there! |

Quick ? Are you retired? Work for the railroad? ByteTheBullet (-: No on retired part or ever working for the railroad. It has something to do with that silly "Making Work Pay" credit they came up with. Cool thanks! I will be doing my taxes this weekend with turbotax. ByteTheBullet (-: |
