Why is it so damn hard to find a decent pair of dress pants?

Why does it seem like every pair of dress pants made these days is cut from tissue paper?  It's cold here 9 months out of the year, I don't need the arctic wind keeping the boys company.  If I wanted to wear kleenex to work, I'd buy a box and bust out my tape dispenser, do a duct-tape wallet kind of a project.  What the hell is the point?  Pants are supposed to protect your modesty and protect you from the elements.  There's no point in wearing anything but your tighty whities if your garment of choice isn't going to fulfill that second criteria.

And is everyone on this planet wider than me?  Seriously.  I can find dress pants in 32, 34, all the way up to 48.  Nowhere can I find a 29 (the size that actually fits me) or 30, which fits me like sweatpants on a rapper.  Is there not a single man in this world who wears a 29 waist, or do they all have their dress pants custom fit at some high-end stringbean clothier?

Yes, I know its weak.  But it's from the heart.

Have you tried LL Bean? That's where I usually go for dress pants.

Dockers work for me.

And if you want odd waist sizes, you'll have to go up to more expensive brands.

Walmart doesn't carry stylish dress pants. You need to expand your search. I have found the best way to get a nice pair of fitted pants is to buy the style I prefer. Then I take them to a seamstress to get them altered.(Says the chubby guy with 29 inch inseam...)

Have you tried looking for vintage clothes or even a goodwill type place? In years past they made very fine wool slacks etc. in smaller sizes.  There is little demand for that slim of a waist size and there may be some very fine garments from days of yore.

You're right about that... no shortage of small sizes out there.

People don't seem to realize, but you can find stuff at goodwill/amvets/etc that still has the tags on it.
