I posted my GF's old car to sell on Craigslist, I wanted $1000 so I put it up for $1200. Told people in the post to reply with a specfic word in the reply title/body or I would consider them spammers/scammers. Got about 50 replies, of those 20 replies that passed my real person check. Told everyone the same thing, I would be home Friday to Sunday, here's my address, call my phone number before ya want to come over and I'll make sure I'm here. Flash forward to Saturday night, got 1 call from a guy that emailed me 30 minutes beforehand. He showed up 30 minutes later, took the car out for a test drive, offered me $1000 cash, done deal. I was honestly suprised that out of 20 "hey I'm interested in the car when can I see it?" replies, one 1 guy actually called and came to see it.... Does that seem about average for selling stuff on CL? |

Yep..its pretty much useless to look for a job on craigslist..i'd say 5% of the ads are for real..the rest are bullshit. The amount of fake spam bs is out of control they should change it so only people with a non-free email can post AND respond to craigslist ads. |

I had a guy screw me over TWICE (no-showed) after I offered him a $75+ car part for FREE (stainless steel exhaust piece for old corvettes). All he had to do was get it out of my garage and not waste my time. He did both - so I cut the bitch up and set it out to trash. Sometimes people can be a real pain in the ass.... |

I've never sold anything on CL yet. I opened an account yesterday and listed an item. Today the ad was gone and I got an email from CL saying my ad had been pulled for prohibited item (a shipping container). The ad they linked to as pulled was not even mine. It was a mini-tractor with brush hog. I'm sure those are prohibited. too.  CL sux.

I've often wondered when I've listed things on Craigslist if the several dozen people who email me saying "I'm interested," but then never contact me again after I email them back, are just (1) not really interested in the first place, (2) inconsiderate, or (3) both.
I once listed an RF modulator on CL (small electronics device) and listed it for $10. A guy emails me and we exchange a few emails. Finally, he informs me that he has no car and therefore could not pick it up... and asks me if I will drive two hours to him to deliver this $10 item.
Have also had several people say that they will be at my house at X time to see something and then they don't show up. |
| I've sold a few things of CL incuding an antique car and an old washer and dry set. I did almost the same thing with the car, but set up a photobucket account with pictures of it. Everyone who emailed me got the link to the pb account and I gave them my name and number and told them when I would be available. It came down to 5 serious buyers from about 30. |

You can find some damn good deals on there, and miss a lot of them..
Last Monday I couls nave had a 24 gun Stack On gun safe, a real safe, not the tin cabinets, of course there was a freekn' snaow storm going on and I didn't have anyone to help me then, of course he called me and told me he "gave it away" to someone, probably freind or family.. oh well,

did have a few tire kickers. told one guy....... if you want it great. If not, don't jerk me off and waste my time. he showed up with cash. OT use to get a lot of the "hey interested in some of our adult video's" calls at work. when i told them they had great timing as i was sitting here masturbating, how much for 20min.... they hung up WTF way to lose a sale bitch! |
