Hitler and his 'bigger is better' ideas...waste industrial resources at a time when every tank was an irreplaceble asset? insane. They could build 3-4 Panther tanks for every Tiger 1....
The Nazis really did take "super-science" to a whole new level in real life, like scifi villains. Think the Tiger tank was a huge monster? They actually planned on making even BIGGER tanks. http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/3916/tigerevolution.jpg http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/2979/monster02.png |

The engine was actually underpowered for the tank and they had problems a plenty with the gear boxes. | What about that bell thing they were working on that just dissapeared after the war? Then in the 60's(IIRC) the famous "kecksberg bell" UFO showed up in the US and was carted off by US .mil types? Anyone remember that one. History channel had something on it a few months ago....very interesting. |

As I've said many times before...it is a damn shame we didn't kill more Nazis during the war...especially the SS. And I don't want to hear any crap about how noble the Waffen SS were and how they were just misunderstood, but really outstanding troops. For those of you who still buy into that crap, do some reading about the World War...both phases, from 1914-1918 and from 1939-1945. In both phases, the German Wehrmacht, especially the SS in phase II but even many units of the Heer, committed the worst sort of atrocities and war crimes. Read up on what happened to Belgium in both phases...how the Germans got pissed because they took sniper fire from some vills so they simply wiped out the towns, killing every man, woman and child...babies included. And I'm not even talking about the camps. Too bad so many of them escaped the hangman's noose. |

I saw a show were they posited that Hitler was a junkie(amphetamines) and many of his decisions in the later years of the war were made in the fog of addiction/intoxication. He probably should have concentrated the effort on building more Panthers rather than newer & bigger tanks. Good thing he was a junkie, if its true. |

Panther's 75mm KwK 42 L/70 could penetrate more armor than a Tiger's 88cm KwK 36. It was more than adequate. The gear box issue was resolved fairly quickly. It is an unfortunate reputation that persists today. |

Nick Just to clear things up, I definately do NOT believe they did anything of the sort, if nothing else then the fact that if they did, they would have made guns with it. T.T Brown was researching that stuff back in the early thirties, but he was on our side. Nick |
