I keep getting a notice that i have a new IM. There isnt one. I tried to logout and log back in but it still says i have a new IM. It pops up everytime i change threads. Anyone have this problem before and how did you fix it?

Thanks

ETA: I just logged out and back in again and the problem seems to have taken care of itself. If it persists ill repost.

Is there any moderators that can help me out? This is getting old. I tried it on my work computer and it seems to be happening there too.

I think I remember this one coming up before a while back.

Try hitting the "reset logon" button in your user profile page.

Then log out, clear your browser cookies and log back in.

Not true

I told you to delete cookies and relog on. It didn't work, so i directed you here, where hopefully the webmaster  -or other members who know about computers- can help you.

Ed, thanks for trying to help me.  I didnt get any response from staff until I sent an email to the address at the help button at the bottom of the page. Let me go ahead and apologize for the comment in the post above . I don't want to piss anyone off. I just want to get this issue resolved so i can view this awesome site without having to acknowledge an IM notice every time i click on a thread, or the next page button

I chaged the IM notification as Phil suggested and the issue is now gone. when i changed the setting, the letter icon in the upper left corner was still showing that i have an IM in my "in box". Once i loged out and bak in the Icon was showing no IM in the "In Box". I havent had any issues since then. Thanks to all who helped out with this issue. A special thanks to Phil!!

Peace

Happening to me too. No matter what computer I change to, delete, reset, log back in. Still keep getting IM message popup everytime I change screens. Yesterday it said I have four messages today only three?

I am having the same issue starting this morning.   If I go away from my computer for a bit and refresh a page it says I have a new message.  Also the little envelope in the upper left hand corner that has an indicator when you have a message never goes away.

If the little envelope went away when there is no message, how would you look at old IMs in your list?

Sorry I meant that it had the email indicator on the envelope.  The problem went away all on its own.  I tried doing what was recommended above a couple times but did not work.  When I woke up this morning before work it was back to normal.

It didn't go away on its own. It took a lot of prayer for all the IM problems to go away
