It got backed up yesterday and finally spat out some emails that had been in limbo up to 24 hours before showing up. Now I can't even log in. |

Heading to bed for the night. Wasn't able to restore old mail folders for everyone, will continue to work on that tomorrow. Totally my fault as the situation was worsened by my not keeping tabs on backups being clean. Backups were being written to a corrupt drive and the main drives are toasted. Some data was recovered quickly, the rest will require a battle. At this time mail is back up to a functional state and recent mail should be flowing into mailboxes. If we can get messages restored, they will show up as if they were always there. (The old mail can just be dropped in while the system is running, so that was the priority.) I know it sucks and you can send your hate mail to me while we continue to work on it. One bright spot is a new system for mail is on it's way. More info on everything tomorrow after we fight with the drives. |

I had forgotten to mention that only AR15.Com addresses were set back up for now. You'll need to set AK47.net or any other address you were using back through the user tools in your profile. (Even if it says it exists you need to enable it again, so try to disable, then enable if presented with that option.) If you can't log in, also use the tools in your profile to ensure your password is synchronized with the site password. Unfortunately there is no ETA on mail recovery as it wont be an easy process. The mail server will also go offline at times today while we work on it. At this point it is in a running state and will continue to receive email regardless of it going offline for a little bit. |

I still am not getting any Site email after enabling my ARFCOM email, sync'ing my passwords, logging off and re-starting my browser, etc.
I sent several test email to myself this morning and nothing coming through. I am able to log in to the mail client and there is emails in there that were sent to me yesterday but nothing from today it appears. |

The mail server is probably still catching up from all the internal mail from subscriptions, registrations, and so forth. I'm sure it will take some time for it to get caught up. Thanx Juan, I will keep you posted. One of the EE Mods sent me a test email and I got it right away. I responded and sent him an email through the email user button and neither went through to him. I sent several to myself as well and none came through either. Hopefully it just needs to get caught up. We have some pressing issues going on over in the EE and I want to make sure we dont miss any important emails. Sorry you have to deal with this. I know it is not what you wanted to be or should be doing on a holiday weekend. |

GoatBoy,
I am having the same problems as munyguru when it comes to getting mail. I will wait to see how things progress and do not worry about restoring my old emails. Luckily I was pretty current with any deals in the works and I recall where I was so don't spend energy on mine. It bites that you even have to deal with these problems on this weekend. I'll drink a beer or four for you. |

Quoted: It was listed as disabled is the only reason I hit the enable button. Quoted: I used the tools to enable the mail system, and synced the passwords and still can't get in. I'll check it, but you dont have to enable any ar15.com address, just any of the others if you wish to use them. |
I don't know if it is related, however I switched computers and I have moved my Outlook to the new. I can recieve emails but unable to send. IIRC there was a post on how to setup Outlook but I'm either blind and unable to locate it and it's probably right in front of me or no post ever existed I want to ensure I did everything correctly which I'm confident I did but I don't know.
Thanks!! |

I am receiving "Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server." I am no newbie to outlook, I know how to set up an email account. I can receive just unable to send. Could this be related to the servers? Thanks!! |

Could this be related to the servers? Thanks!! Are you using your ISP as your outgoing mail server or are yuu trying to use the ARFCOM mail server for the outgoing mail? I have never been able to use the ARFCOM servers for outgoing mail and always have used my ISP's for the outgoing mail. Have never had an issue doing it this way. |

The trick or work around for using ar15 server as the outgoing SMTP is to use mail.ar15.com and change the out going port from 25 to 587. It works for all of my email accounts and was working for the ar15 account until I switched computers.
I'll swap the outgoing to my ISP and see where that gets me. Thanks!! |
