Wrote up a really helpful and tremendously insightful reply in the Troubleshooting Forum.  Truth be told, I don't know that much.

Clicked the spell check just for the heck of it.

Got all sorts of errors from the server.

My text was purged.

I decided to punt the post.

Looks kinda buggy to moi.

Mac with OS9.1 & Internet Explorer 4.5.

Spellcheck is handled by an outside service... just make sure you have javascript enabled and the latest version of your browser. (Should work with 4.x anyhow, but not sure on a mac!)

I had a similarly bad experience with the spell check.
I'm also using a Mac with OS 9.

It was a while back and I haven't tried since.
