I often include links to ar15.com threads in other threads here and on falfiles.com

Lately, I've noticed that several of these links have become pretty worthless because they now only link to the forum that the thread was originally posted in...

I'm assuming that, as the threads "age" and are perhaps archived, they become unavailable to the linking...

Unfortunately, that makes linking to ar15.com threads mostly worthless, since the links are lost to the viewer of the thread that the link is listed in...

Is what I think that is happening here (the archive angle) what is really happening?

Can this be "fixed" (linked threads continue to be accessible through the link even after archiving)?

Thanks.

Forrest

If a thread remains inactive for (I believe) 3 months, then it is archived and only Team Members can view them via archive search.  Archiving threads saves a lot of bandwidth.  If the thread is tacked, it won't be archived.

You could always put a link to the Archive server, but as 82nd pointed out, only Team Members can access the info.
