Will never happen -------------

This is a gun board and the people here are very strong freedom of speach.......... RKBA

Only the timid cry babies would want an ignore button.

Why not?  Most forums I've been to have one.  It seems to save a lot of trouble.  Mods and Admins can't be added to the list so I don't see what the problem would be.

 Great.

Now I'll ask again, what does an Ignore list have to do with Freedom of Speech???

I think you are just mad because if we had an ignore list, no one would ever read your trolling posts again.

Tough luck buddy

Well fact is most would look at my posts anyway -- to see what I had to say  -- and even respond if they  disagreed.

And I do not get mad .............. sorry.

Yeah, sure.  So I guess your Freedom of Speech ploy was shot down, since you haven't responded to that...

So, other than getting mad because no one will see your posts anymore, I can't see why you would even try to condemn this feature using the Freedom of Speech ploy.

I find ignore stupid.  You don't have to click on a thread, or read a post.  If you don't have the self control to not read posts from someone who pisses you off, you have bigger problems that an ignore button won't fix.

Plus when the guy posts a really useful response in a firearms related thread, you will never see it since you "ignored" him due to something he said in an abortion thread.

So I guess you think no one should ever be banned from this forum?  Cause with your logic, all members could just ignore the person instead of banning him, correct?

Some people have different tolerance for bullshit than the admins, an ignore feature would allow everyone to customize it to the level of crap that they want- which would lead to less trouble on the forum.

An ignore feature only effects the people that always want to be heard, but most people don't want to hear them.  That is why those people that want to be heard always speak up against it.  If you're not one of those people, an ignore feature won't effect you at all.

cyanide, you still haven't gone into the Freedom of Speech thing, I guess that means you put your foot in your mouth??

There is a major difference between banning, and ignoring.  What if someone ignores me because of a couple posts in a religion thread, and that person happens to be the one that knows the answer to my thread "How do I fire a .308 in a 7.62x54R without it making a bad noise?" thread.  They will never see it because they have ignored me.

This forum is like a large group of friends, we can ban people(i.e. kick them out of the group) when they cross a threshold and are considered harmful to the group by spamming the site, posting scat pics, calling someone's work, etc.

You can already ignore people in a forum just like you can in real life.  In real life there is no button you click and make them disappear from your view to never be seen or heard from again.  In real life if someone is in your group of friends, you must put up with them even if you ignore them.

If you post something that might piss someone off, don't expect them to help you later on, that's life.

This forum isn't like a group of friends.  This forum is more like going to a very crowed range, at that range there are many groups of friends there, but not everyone is friends with each other.  Sure, you can go talk to other people and usually they will help out or laugh at your jokes, but sometimes some of the people there get on your nerves, and you just stay away from them.
If you are at that range and talk like cyanide posts, don't expect to leave with many friends (or teeth).

In real life there isn't a button to press, but there is an option to get away from people that you don't like (walk away), which is why I can't see why it can't be the same here.

Like I originally said, I've been to many forums with the ignore feature, every vBulletin forum I've been to has it built into the software.  I've never heard of a problem caused by the ignore feature, only benefits.
