It would be a lot more convenient/user friendly if, when IMing another user, the IM Window opened in a NEW window.

As it currently is, IM opens in the existing window and your place in the current thread is lost; the only way to go back to where you were that caused you to IM in the first place is to hit back a few times.

On computer - mouse over the user info button, right click the IM user button, click open new window.

On phone - click the user info, then long click the IM user button, click open in new tab.

Done.

Yea, but that's a whole extra keystroke.

It should default to a new window when the IM tab is clicked IMO.

This. Plus opening in a new tab doesn't work for private browsing.
