Is there a chance we could have, in addition to the ignore list, a "friends" list?  So that, when we add people to it, their posts are subtly highlighted in threads we visit?  There are some very smart people here who I tend to learn a lot from... And there are a lot more that, while I don't necessarily want to ignore, I don't need to always read to get through the thread.

Even without the highlighting a "friends list" would be a good idea IMO. It would be nice to be able to save people to the list and maybe add a note for why they were added so that you could find them again. Highlighting their posts wouldn't be a bad addition either.

Yep, would be nice.

I would use this feature, the ignore list I don't care about.

I would use it over an ignore anyday

It could even be used as an ignore of sorts. If you could put notes with your list you could highlight all posts by currently suspected trolls and such. That's not really what makes this such a good idea but it is an added perk.

I think it's a great idea and made a similar post last night. Now that I see this one I'll ask that mine be locked up. Great idea!

I would use it ... it would save me a bunch of time updating off site lists.

Although I have not seen it on this style of forum I have seen friend highlighting and friend captioning on other forums. Good idea but probably easy to do.

I had the same idea, and everybody said it would result in too much stalking.

How about just for Team Members?

The friend list options are on the table and partially done. We are looking at two basic systems...

1) Watch lists

This allows you to have highlights on people you like to read in threads, possibly keep a list of threads from people on your list, etc.

2) Friend lists

This will be much more feature friendly, but will require a typical request/approve process between people. Friends will get notifications when they log in, post in threads, start new threads, and so forth. These options will be configurable to your liking and will include the ability to automatically add friends to watch lists so their posts are highlighted as well.

Keep in mind a few other features will be coming within this scope including groups, shared calendars, etc.

It would be cool to be able to filter a threat to only show you posts by the people in your friends list.

This seems to be going in the direction of Facebook.. ;)

What would be the point to only see your friend list people's responses?

At first I was thinking it would be nice just to see what the people you like are saying in a thread but I guess you could just beef up your ignore list. ;)

If the Watch's list members had their posting highlighted with a slightly different color not unlike how the original OP highlighting works; that, would be nice. There are some people's posts that I always enjoy.
