OGD 114 chances are you guys wouldn't like it though, so don't buy it View Quote If you like ogd 114, I'd consider stocking up when you see it. It's been off the shelves here in PA for a while now. It was rumored to being discontinued. This article says no but it still sounds like it could go away next year. . ARTICLE . |

I really like Jim Beam Devil's Cut. I don't know how much of it is actually extracted from the wood, but it has a great bite. 90 proof doesn't hurt, either.

If you dig 100 proof and want some suprisingly (well... shockingly even... maybe) good try Old Granddad Bottled in Bond. Less than 25$/750ml around these parts and was a real eye opener for me. Old Granddad itself is swill... the Bottled in Bond version is actually pretty dang tasty. I found out about it in a blind tasting. I thought the host was joking when I saw the Old Granddad label. I took another taste from that bottle to make sure he was serious. I then read the rest of the label and have had at least one bottle in the rotation since. Not the best bourbon ever, but it's up there in 'bang for buck' quality with the Evan Williams Single Barrel. (Which I also love). View Quote Not my favorite, but as stated, I've paid more and liked it less. |

Mine seems to change all the time.
I think four roses single barrel. |

Evan Williams is. The. SHIT. It brings to mind cute 19 year olds wearing cut off overalls. And let me telly you, that's about as cute as a young lady gets.

I’ve been drinking a “micro” distilled bourbon from Chattanooga, Tn. Chattanooga Whiskey Co. 1816 Reserve.
It’s a little lower proof at 90, but it reminds me of a cross between Bulleit, Eagle Rare, and Buffalo Trace. I’m kicking myself in the ass because my wife tried to buy me a bottle of their single barrel cask strength in addition to the Reserve. |

I tasted some Jefferson's Reserve today for the first time, and it was amazing.
I have always been a fan of Woodford Reserve or Gentleman Jack, but my next bottle will be Jefferson's Reserve. It was impressive. |

My favorite bourbon is not an answerable question. I must have at least 20 bourbons on tap to choose from.

For common purposes, Weller Special Reserve
Inexpensive, and very drinkable. There are better bourbons out there, but not for the price. There are a big bottle of Woodford Reserve and Maker’s Mark handy too. |

Jim Beam = mixed
Eagle Rare = neat (not ruining a good bourbon with a soft drink) |

Anything from the Buffalo Trace Distillery is basically awesome but turning into vaporware. Luckily I have access to BT and ER basically anytime on the cheap from the Class Six ($21 and $28).
Buffalo Trace Bourbon Eagle Rare Blantons Pappy Weller etc. Besides those, Jeffersons Four Roses Larceny Elijah Craig All of those are winners. |

Soda should never be mixed with bourbon. If you absolutely must dilute your bourbon, mix it no more than half and half, preferably with citrus and simple syrup.

Jack for drinking
Base Hayden and Angel Envy are my favorites to make Manhattans with or drink straight. Heritage Brown Sugar Bourbon is amazing and local. |

Jefferson Reserve and 1792 are my go to Bourbons. Scored a bottle of Stag Jr ands it's ok for a hard to come by bourbon. Then again I said the same thing about Pappy.

I didn't see Blade and Bow anywhere.
It's my current rocks pour. |

My go-to “junk whiskey” is still Wild Turkey 101. I’m out of it right now; it hasn’t been replaced because I have so more other stuff than I can drink right now.

Makers for me, thanks. My Dad used to drink Jim Beam, he collected the funny bottles so he'd have an excuse-- to me it just tastes way too edgy. Maker's is smooooth. Somewhere in Kentucky there is a cask of it with my name on it.

The last time I saw Weller Antique on the shelf I bought all they had. Very good stuff and I think it was <$30 a bottle. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

This past September I was in the Dallas area and saw some in a Total Wine liquor store for $17.99. They only had one left and I damn sure bought it. Edited to add: I can't find it anywhere now and the last time I saw some here in town they wanted $69.99 a bottle. I had to pass at that price. |

Relatively new to bourbon. Four Roses Single Barrel is my favorite so far, Larceny isn't too shabby either. Was searching for Eagle Rare due to all the ravings and most calling it smooth and easy going but Im finding it anything but now that I finally found a bottle. Super harsh and really seaming (to me) like just a light rye, I don't get it.
I love the caramel and different flavors I get out of the FRSB, but all I get out of the ER is heat, pretty friggin disappointed. |

Before you add water or ice, I recommend you chill your glass, pour, then give it about 10 minutes to breathe and try it straight up again.

Lightly chilled, about 55 degrees, was the preferred nest pour for a number of the folks who made the stuff back in the 70s & 80s.

Ill definitely try both of the above suggestions, thanks. I did end up tossing an ice ball in last night that made it much smoother, but obviously took a bit away from it as well.
