Had a flight of BTAC with dinner. The GTS is definitely back with a vengeance but THH still reigns supreme for me followed by WLW then ER17 brining up the rear in this lot

Currently drinking some Tincup neat. I don't have a refined palate but really the only thing coming through is how sweet it is.

Sipping a little bit of High West Bourbon with a splash of water, I'd describe it as liquid caramelized marshmallows with a tingling sensation. Very good overall, would buy again.

Found a bottle of 1792 BiB single barrel select. Poured a little to taste neat and it is good, not super proof-y. Has some oak, vanilla and some banana flavor going on. I am looking forward to settling down with more of this later.

Old Fashioned with Wild Turkey 101 Rye.
Been drinking my way through a bunch of other bottles, but a rye old fashioned is my go to. Nose and palette are still messed up and I'm certain it is my meds. Not much I can do as they are preventing me from having a heart attack or stroke because of insanely high blood pressure. It was so high that it scared the doctor. But I am learning to live with it, although I wish I could taste some of the flavors from some of the bottles I have stored away. |

It wasn't till years later that Conrad would realize love was just like communism - it was a great idea but never quite worked out.

I tried to drink it neat again tonight and decided to try and turn it into an old fashioned so I can enjoy it and it's just not happening. Not sure what I am gonna do with the rest of it I didn't enjoy it with coke the other night either. |

Try adding a dash of agave to the old fashioned, or double up your preferred sweetener. A Sour might work. Bulleit Rye is a damn decent bottle at that price point, imo, although their Bourbon tastes young to me. I also like the Old Forester Rye at that level. |

It's also completely missing from Utah, but while driving through Evanston Wyoming they had it for $24 a bottle and I bought like 5 of them. |

I have a chance to buy Remus Repeal 3 and 5.
Any thoughts on these? IIRC, 5 had great reviews but don't remember hearing about 3.... |

Remus 5 is 100% amazing. I have 3 bottles of it, and I have drank 2.
I do have a Remus 3 laying around, and its good. Really good. But V was the best release. |

Finally cracked open a Four Roses Single Barrel Barrel Strength OBSQ 62.8 % ABV aged 11years 8-months HyVee store pick.
WOW...the first sip was a burst of sweet fruit (grapes and sweet apples maybe) with almost no spice for a high-rye bourbon. Mouthfeel is medium for a nearly 12-year and the finish is pretty hot but not unbearable and more sweetness.. Second sip is mostly hot , not the burst of sweet and a bit of spice coming through. Going to let it si for few minutes to let it calm down. But so far an amazing pick - if you like a sweet pour , which I do. ETA: about 15-minutes of rest and third sip is more spice and some pepper now. Still sweet fruit but more “delicate” and still pretty hot from the 125-proof. |

Plain ol Buffalo Trace, good stuff honestly. Not sure if I like it or WT101 more. The BT is smoother vs more spice from the WT101.

I am a few pages (like 50) behind, cuz life...and...I've been drinking white wine, but...I've switched vinters.
I'm now drinking Starborough. Also a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, but...a more consistent one, so far at least. So if you like a crisp, very dry, herbal white wine---good with chicken or pork, good with very cheesy or "Italian" dishes, good with sushi or salmon (as long as it has some garlic and/or other spices and is not plain), this is a very easy drinking wine. You DO have to like Sauvignon Blanc. Don't make this the wine on a first date or a special occasion, unless you've tried it first. Sauv Blanc is like that. It is the Catwoman of white wines. (You know that old movie when Michelle Pfeifer was Catwoman? Where she had the "Hello There" neon sign, then she fell out the window and the cats turned her into "other" and she went back upstairs, knocked out three letters and it became "Hell here"? Yeah. That movie.) Yeah. Sauvignon Blanc is the Catwoman of white wines. |
