Spent the weekend at Blue Hole, and completed my Advanced. Other than the wife being home, and sick while I was away, it was a good trip. One Marine Vet, and an Active Duty Army student in the class with me. Made for very comfortable, and conscientious dive buddies. We're all doing the VA program together, so it's good to know I'll dive with them again.
I'll have pics coming later today. |

With yours, and a few others, recommendation to get that Hollis Neotek, I was fairly comfortable. It was my first time diving with a hood. It was a little tight, but not too constrictive, and greatly helped in keeping the body warm.
If anyone dives at Blue Hole, NM, try and find the catfish. Don't know how he got there, but with all of the crawfish, he's gonna get big.

I'm glad it worked out for you. You can trim out the face section of it a bit to get more of a "custom" fit if that is where it is bothering you. If it is in the neck area, sadly that will be a more costly alteration, but doable. Comfort underwater is key.
I actually was cold my first time ever wearing the hollis suit this weekend. Two hours in the 72 degree water was about all I had in me. There were people diving in shorty suits! |

Glad to hear! What dives did you do? Got there on Friday, when they were doing the OW classes, and just buddied with the assistant instructor, to get dives in. Did my deep water, underwater navigation and imagery on Sat., and did the PPB and Altitude yesterday. Was going to do an additional deep, again just for logging, first thing in the morning. But the rescue class was short, and needed a volunteer to be their "victim". Figured it'd be good practice for myself, and I could still log it, so why not be helpful. Sleeper, it depends on if the shop has gotten certified with the VA. But, mine is, and you can use Ch 30 or Ch 33 to go all the way to Dive Instructor; I think all the way to Staff Instructor. ETA: You have to have your OW cert before you can start the program. |
