| I have been considering making my own DNA30 mod using the new modboxes on fastech. Just curious if anyone else here has done one. I do have experience with electronics so the soldering wouldn't be an issue. I am more worried about how to mount the boards and what not. |
| I am not sure I would want to epoxy everything. You wouldn't have to worry about it moving, but if you had a switch go bad or need replaced it would make it a pain in the ass. I said to hell with it and ordered a stingray mechanical. Just gotta find a good clone RBA or RDA. |

There are tons of good rebuildables coming out right now but until you know what you like getting a Kayfun clone for your all day and a Stillare clone for fun time would be a good start. Quoted:

The SX series chips offer everything the DNA does plus more at a comparable price. If you think about the box mod again, I'd go that route. |

GO FOR IT!! Making them is a painful joy...kinda like golf. Epoxying them in is fine, if you don't want to do that, there are a few different clamps and holders on www.shapeways.com that you can use. Just search DNA or SX350. A modder on that site named BAPGOOD has some really good products.
I also second making an SX-350 mod though. I built one a while back and haven't touched my DNA's since. The 350 is also upgradable with 60 watts supposedly around the corner. It's already up to 50. You wont be able to get the SX330, it's only for "corporate" sales to companies like Sigelei and is not user upgradable anyways. |

I would stay away from anything dna30 for building or purchase. My clouper and hcigar both died in a small fiery blaze.
My brothers friend had an authentic hana that vented after 2 hits. The sx chip had better not fail on me when I get it. On a happy note, my mech collection is evening out. My daily drivers are the Colossus, Signum, El Siglio torched and an 18500 Nemesis. All authentic. I am playing with a copper vanilla clone right now. Hits pretty good with a Quasar atty. I swear I am going to try everything once before all of this is over. |
| I've got two SX350's that I built...neither have let me down after heavy use over the last couple months. As far as the Cloupor and Hcigar clones...don't let that force your opinion of a real evolv DNA board...they were made with sub par wiring/soldering, but can be outstanding if you want to put the effort into installing them right. . I do not own or have messed with a real Hana DNA, but this isn't the first time I've heard of this...rumor has it their quality control went out the window when they "hit big" with their mods, besides, now they are just sue happy and to worried about who is cloning their crap instead of producing a quality product. However, there are ton's of amazing looking and outstanding performing real evolv DNA mods out there if you look for them, but I still like my SX better. |
| I built my first OKR box while waiting for my Hana clone. When I finally received it, I used it for 2 battery cycles. It worked fine, I was just used to 40+ watts. Evolv has already missed the 50w train. They better be working on a 100w chip if they want remain relevant. |

To be fair the Clouper and Hcigars do not use an Evolve DNA-30. They use a chinese clone chip and it is inferior. I have also read reports of the clones having problems with the circuit protection, but never heard of a hana modz or vapor shark dying that way. |

To clarify I was going to use these two parts to start.
