Just finished a trip to Ohio from Utah. I was puffing along every now and then. About an hour into the trip, I noticed my Russian was leaking pretty bad out of the air holes. Parleys Canyon is about 3000' feet higher than down in the valley.
Pulled over at a rest stop and took the fill screw out, and reinstalled it. Then inverted the atty and let it drip the rest out of the chamber. I was GTG the rest of the trip thankfully.

I assume the pressure change was forcing juice out of the tank. I travel by air a lot, and now I'm worried about the pressure changes on the plane.

How do you frequent flyers deal with leaking tanks and pressure changes?

When I was using tanks, I'd pack them empty. For carry on and around the airport, I use a dripper with a small bottle of juice or an e-can. Drippers don't leak All tanks will leak unless you can guarantee their orientation for the whole trip.

I had a similar experience on the plane when we went on vacation and came to the same conclusion as you, air pressure.

I have a Protank II. I always invert it for flight, or temp changes otherwise it leaks like crazy.

I have to drop little over 1500ft to get into town. I have to make sure my case is inverted and vertical on the ride in or all my kayfuns will leak like crazy. Thats all it takes for me though so not a huge deal as long as I remember.
