I ordered a magma clone, i got it today. I was all excited and got it all setup and went to test it out, but the center pin is either too short or its not put together the right way. The pin itself is just about even with the  510 threading and its completely inside the insulator. Not sure if that really mattered since i have an adjustable center pin on my mod. Anyways i went to see how it would work and immediately the mod gets hot. So i take out the battery and try to unscrew the center pin on the magma. I get it to where it sticks out a bit more and stick it back on to try again. Same thing happens but now the post is lose, so once again i remove it and push down on the post and tighten it a bit so its not lose and that takes me back to where i started at. i have it setup with a dual coil 8 wraps on one and 7 on the other. I have no way to test the ohms right now either but i would think that shouldnt be too low. Any ideas?

You have a short. Post some pics. Be careful or you will melt a battery and it won't be no fun.

Thats the best i can get with my phone.

Can't really tell by the pics.. Might post a couple of the deck.

If the mod is firing other toppers without problem then the short is most likely in the atomizer. It the coils are set up proper it might have a bad insulator.

Well i tore the coils out and took it apart to see if anything looked odd. I will whip up another set of coils and try to see if that was the problem. My gamma tank works fine on my mod too.

Alright i made a single 7 wrap coil and gave it another try. I still got the same thing, where the tube would get warm and wont fire. I only held it down for a second or two amd it was getting hot. I dont kbow what else to do. I guess i will contact the seller and return it. I can take some more pictures latter.

Try it without the coils and see if it still shorts. That should help you narrow it down. To take a wild-ass guess, I would say that the center pin on your mod could be shorting to ground on the atomizer threads. Is there no way to make the atomizer's positive screw stick out more? I'm not familiar with the magma.

I have an authentic magma, and the center pin is not adjustable.

Send it back. There's no excuse for an atomizer to short out right outta the box.

Alright, i replaced the insulator amd built some new coils. Now it works fine, i am guessing you were righr about the insulator being bad jagerbomber. Thanks fer the help.

Good to hear you fixed it.  Those magma clones aren't exactly cheap to have one with a short out of the box.  I hope you enjoy yours as I enjoy mine.

Yeah, i was a little pissed about that as well. Not sure if i got it setup the right way or not though. I have a dual coil with a 2mm wick dropped down into the wells theb i put some cotton on top to cover the wicks in the wells.

Everything else aside, remedy this ASAP:

Tack on a cheap ohms checker on your next order.  I think most places carry them.  When rebuilding, it's crazy to not check your ohms one way or another, IMO.

Quoted for emphasis. You said you did two 7-wrap coils. Depending on how small those coils are (who knows if you're wrapping them tightly around a thin piece of silica wick or what), they could be easily be something really low ohm like 0.5 ohms. Since you're using two of them that resistance is halved to 0.25 ohms. 0.5 can be dangerous, 0.25 is even more dangerous. If you're using a crappy battery with a not-so-good discharge rate you're literally holding a pipe-bomb in your hands right now. Even if you're using the best quality battery like an AW, but in a small size like 18350, you are still WAY under it's operating range with a coil of that resistance, and that battery could vent and melt down at any time.

I wouldn't touch that thing until you get an ohm meter.

I plan on picking one up in the next order. As for the wraps i have been using a small screwdriver, not an eyeglass one either. The wick i have sits in there pretty loose as well. I can double up the 2mm wick and still have a tiny bit of room. Batteries i have are the sony vtc5 2600 mah.

Dude, get an ohm reader and put a pair of micro coils and cotton on that bitch!

Well, i ran into the shorting again. I thought the center pin was fine, but the new insulator i used for it loosened up a bit and had a little bit of play so it caused it to short. I contacted the seller and he agreed to refund my money upon return. I found a different seller that has them a bit cheaper and has it marked as a v2 clone. It also comes with a little screwdriver and some wick. I shoukd be getting the new one by tuesdays or wednesday.  Also the center pin looks like it sticks out more on the v2 that i ordered.
