| A plain white cotton or white linen pocket square, tv fold. |
| Might be a tad overdressed depending on position applied for. CEO of Fortune 500 company, or sales consultant for a tailor, yes....light industry, IT, manufacturing or non-eccentric sales (Might be different if you are selling planes, Ferrari's or multi-million dollar plantations) then probably no. |

Dress for the position. Wear what everybody else at that company doing the job you're applying for would wear on a M-Th, but step it up a notch with a starched shirt, pressed slacks, and polished shoes. Trim your nose hair and leave the pocket square at home. This is an administrative site security position. I will probably leave the pocket square at home but I wear a suit to all job interviews. |

Very wise choice on both counts. |

I was told the other day "these days, the pocket square is every bit as important as the necktie, if not mores because you should even wear a pocket square when wearing a suit, but no necktie." You were deceived. Pocket squares are for used car salesmen, NFL players turned commentators, and pixie males that are trying too hard. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I wear a pocket square about half the time. Well, I generally just starch a cotton handkerchief when I'm ironing a shirt and use the handkerchief as a pocket square. TV fold.
IMO, a pocket square done right is a good finishing touch. Done badly, you look like a peacock. YMMV. |

I wear a pocket square every day to work (I'm a lawyer). If I want to look more formal, say for going to federal court, I'll wear a dark, solid-color suit with a plain, which linen square. I have some colored and patterned ones that I wear with sport coats and the like.
For a job interview, it depends on the job. Have you seen anyone else at your prospective employer dressed that way? The most important thing is to dress for the job you are trying to get. If the hiring manager can envision you fitting in with his team, it will go a long way. |

Politicians aren't known for their dress. They also wear a flag pin. It's seldom that more is better. Just like not having monograms on french cuffs with cuff links. |
