I'm lazy and use a Wahl electric trimmer, but do appreciate a good pair of scissors when wielded by my excellent stylist.

i used to be that way. my beard was long enough in 2011, i successfully braided part of it into my chest hair. unfortunately that year i had to shave completely.

I use an electric for day to day trimming. But i do have a pair of scissors that i use for trimming more carefully.

I just use a Wahl to keep it tight.  Used to also have a pair of scissors which worked well.  That is, until the wife used 'em to open a can of paint one day.

I also use both, though I prefer using the scissors when time allows.
