I need to get some new cookware for our second home. We maybe renting this home out to snowbirds for 3-4 months in the winter, and maybe airbnb type stuff the rest of the year when we are not using. Should I just go cheap as I can? Or get something a little more heavy duty? We plan to use this residence a lot, so I will be using the cookware a lot also. The house has a electric cook top if that matters at all? I've never really cooked on electric, so I really have no idea if it matters much. Do I go with regular non-stick? Stainless? Copper bottom?  Don't want to spend more than $100-$150 if possible.

Bingo!

Go commercial. It's less expensive than 'Suzy Homemaker' grade crap and it'll last much longer.

Lots of good info in this thread.  I asked the same question a few years ago.  Went with commercial grade stuff and could not be happier.  Just need to get a few pieces to fill in the gaps.

Most places I have stayed at have a locked closet that is off limits to the guests.  Keep your good stuff in there and leave the cheap stuff in the cabinets for guest use.

Renting it out, don't get any non-stick, it will just get ruined.  Restaurant supply store was a great recommendation.  Used, preferably.

Beyond that, consumer grade companies just seem to fluctuate wildly in quality.  I've had Calphalon crap I couldn't wait to get rid of...and I have a Calphalon pot I'd run into a burning house to save.
