My grates need replaced.  Anyone have experience with the grillgrates?  or do I just replace with the same grates?

Depends on your grill. I always thought grates just needed to be replaced after a few years, then I bought a Weber. My porcelain-covered cast iron grates are as good as new after 4 years and I couldn't be happier. It's no problem finding replacement grates either.

What size are the grates? Have you looked around to see if there are some high-quality replacements?

Got a welder?

I bought some 20 foot sections of 5/16" rod stock and cut them to length on my chop saw.  I then made a couple cross bars and welded them all evenly spaced into a new grille grate.  This grate outlived my grill.

I did the same sort of thing with angle iron to replace the flame arrestors in the bottom of the grill.

I've had the grill for about 4 years now, covered and taken care of but this will be the second time to replace the grates, really like the Man Grates, how long do they last?
