Brothers,
I've been so busy with family and work I have not been to lodge in about months. Today, I had my annual physical and the guy who was doing my basic vitals saw my ring and said "Oh you're a traveling man"....instead of feeling proud, I felt guilty having not been to lodge in a while. He, the nurse, was from the Phillipines and when I said "Yes, but I have not been to lodge in a while" he replied "Neither have I, but, you're still my brother and I'm yours" As we say in Texas "There ya go" And so mote it be |

Remember the obligation....... this. while your presence in lodge is encouraged, it is not mandatory, family, god and country come first. no matter how long it's been, we are still brothers. This. I'm sure your brothers would welcome you back in open arms. |

I didn't just miss a few months, I moved away from my home lodge and didn't attend for several years,
I was even in arrears of my dues for some time. I always meant to get back and get in good standing, but I too felt guilty at putting myself in the situation, and knowing I procrastinated, and that I could have done better. I finally contacted the Lodge secretary at my old lodge and he could not have been nicer, he helped me get back in good standing with my dues and some other problems, and after several months, I received my new card in the mail, I am now a brother in good standing and it feels great. I will never let that happen again. We all go through problems and tough times in our lives, we all make mistakes, but it is a wonderful thing to know that there are brothers out there who do not judge us, and who will help each other whenever there is a need. |
