Irons, ACOG.
I think red dots would still work. They are made tough for the military.

Yes, they will work.

They are to simple to be taken out by an EMP.  Also remember the the pulse is line of sight and for things on the grid. which your lights and lasers should not be.  SO even if you have a smart phone controlled predator scope its nice and safe unplugged inside a safe.

Yup.  Any EMP strong enough to kill a flashlight/laser/etc. would probably melt you in the process.

Here's the short list on EMP facts and myths.

1.  EMP isn't going to come from a terrorist, for several reasons.  It will require a nation state with significant resources.  And as such would make itself a target for retaliation.

2.  EMP requires an "antenna" for it to damage something.  Something like power lines.  Battery powered stuff that's not plugged in, or even cars are not likely to be damaged.

3.  EMP is highly unreliable to make/control/predict.

4.  EMP does not violate the laws of physics.  The inverse square law still applies.

5.  Yes, other things can produce EMP.  The only man made source is nukes.  A major solar flare could theoretically cause similar damage.  This is improbable, however, as our systems are protected against it fairly well.

Now the zombies have nukes? We are so screwed.

What about solar flares?

Still won't kill cars and small electronics.  Damage to the grid is likely.  Expect to be without power.  Communcations will likely be impacted, although mostly due to power.  Fiber optics helps us out there.
