I'm getting a new dog, but its just a matter of what kind of dog. I grew up with GSD and Rotties. I have narrowed it down to the following:
Presa Canario Cane Corso Fila Brasilia I have the time, etc. to commit to a pup. I also trained 4 of our GSDs to be Schutzhund champs. I feel like its time to switch it up. Thoughts? |

what are you getting the dog for? companion, schuzen hobby? guard dog, running partner? their all good dogs, just really depends on the owner.
for me siince i like to take my dogs to the park, and let the have fun running and playing around the presa or cane corso wouldnt work to well for me. as there not the most social dogs when it comes to interacting with other dogs. it just really depends on what works best with what you want to do and what the dog excells at |

Boxer :)
That's a tough one. I don't know much about their personalities, but for looks I prefer the Corso. Then get him THIS |
| We have a Corso, which we love dearly. All I can say is, please consider getting one of these three breeds only if you or your spouse can stay home with them during the day while they grow up to work with the dog and raise it to be properly socialized. (this may be “duh - of course” info if you’ve already had other large guard/working dogs, in which case, I don’t mean to sound like I’m preaching). In my opinion, if you try to raise one of these dogs as a ‘latch key’ kid where you only see them in the morning and evening, at best the dog will grow up to be an intolerable burden you’ll have to give up, and at worst, a liability that will eventually cause harm to someone that you’ll possibly regret for a long time. In my opinion, none of these breeds are born with the innate drive to please like GSDs or Labs. |
