Unfortunate about your german shepherd to, been there quite a few times with dogs. The big creme colored dog in the photo with blue, scar, a samoyed shepherd mix of mine was 13 years old and passed away in sept. His brother mafausa passed away in july '03 of a twisted stomach, we suspect, and that was only 4 days before my german shepherd thor passed away from internal hemorrhaging, he was 11. After thor passed away I bought fenris, the german shepherd way in the background in that photo. Anyhow, couldn't mentioned 1 without the others close to them. There's been lots of others to. Where did you buy your pup and where in va are yall? It was hard to believe we found blue on the mountain like we did, he seems to have been put out and was just waiting for someone, anyone to pick him up, when we came around the curve on a dirt road in the woods I saw his eyes in the lights and he walked really fast out into our lights to be seen and and as I passed him to stop, I opened the door and he was trotting over to me right to my hands. He seemed confident and at home from the minute he was with us. He was a rugged dog despite being older, my other dogs aside from scar and faus the big dogs, were scared of thor, but not blue, he would stand his ground. I would swear he could smell water to, he could just follow his nose and go straight to a small water source. I always thought it would be really cool to have another cattle dog. I bet they're a handful when they're young and for that matter for years till they slow down. A book I bought on them says cattle dogs can live to be 17 or 18 years old. |

I acutally went to a chicken swap looking for some chickens. My puppy radar went off pulling into the lot That's amazing he walked up to you. My ACD is very aloof to people he doesn't know. I guess he just recognized good people. Storm(my ACD) would pull the GSD around the floor even though he weigh's less than half what the GSD did. He is as active today at age 9 as he was at 1 when we got him from the pound. |
