Here are some breeders you could start with
Critter Creek Shadowmyst They're both out of Iowa and members of the national breed club. For more breeders, look at The Labrador Club |
|
You mentioned Silver Lab. Be sure you are aware of what you are getting into, but the consensus of the lab community is that these are really mix breeds being passed off as 'rare' purebreds. The color comes from crossing in Weimaraner blood.
The best dog I have ever had was a mutt but people passing something off as another is IMHO not ever good. Labrador Club |

Earthsea labs
my parents have two labs from her and my sister has a one from her as well. great dogs, have documented blood lines if that matters to you. |

Thanks for the input. Found a local breeder in the classifieds here. Picked up a yellow female. Did you make sure they did appropriate health testing? Often breeders that advertise in the classifieds are NOT reputable or responsible. YMMV you want clear - EIC, CERF, CNM, OFA, PRA |

Responsible breeders do those tests and provide proof that they were done. |

I just hate to hear about people getting burned by bad breeders. Congrats on your pup! Now post pics! Wrong reply. I quoted you to add what the OP should be looking for in labs. |

Wrong reply. I quoted you to add what the OP should be looking for in labs. I oopsed. But yeah, that's what you should look for. It is a very rare ethical breeder that both advertises in the paper and has puppies available at the precise moment a person starts looking for one. Usually responsible breeders have waiting lists, and if they advertise in the paper it is to educate and inform, rather than as a vehicle to sell puppies. And they do not advertise prices. |

And they do not advertise prices. +1 ad in paper a pups waiting for 'customers' is a big red flag, especially if they are passing off themselves as breeders. Now, ad in the paper because your female had an unplanned pregnancy by the neighbor's dog...that's often a way to get a real great dog at a reasonable price. |
