| Got a dog that I am guessing was mistreated by someone at some point, 5 year old pug mix gotten from a rescue. I need to put some ear drops in but after the first day she starts getting into bitch mode. One of my dogs, a rot/terrier/lab mix, has no issues being muzzled when needed and he just slinks away into a corner until it is time to come out of confinement; however, with this one I have tried muzzling her in the past but to no avail, so I am wondering if there is some secret method for success? |
Acepromazine and tramandol an hour and a half before?
I have no other advice on the muzzling, but do on the ear drops: Put in some warm water and warm it up. If you have a thermometer, the temp you are shooting for is about 100 degrees, which is dog body temperature. If it's that temp going in the ear, they don't get that cold jolt, and it's much easier. In fact, if you cover their eyes, warm it to body temperature, and DON'T TOUCH one of their ear hairs, they may not even know that you put it in there. |
