Wednesday night my greyhound Fernando was running laps in the back yard like he always does when something snagged his skin and peeled a chunk back like a banana peel. He spent most of the day yesterday at the vet getting stitched up. Now he has a bunch of stitches, a drainage tube and a lamp shade. And I am out $400 so far.
He seems to be doing OK but he hates the lamp shade.

That e-collar will not do a lot of good if the dog can still reach the wound to scratch it with its hind leg...
Looks like that wound is close enough for the dog to be able to scratch it.

I caught him scratching at it today and on the advice of my vet I removed the collar and he is now wearing one of my old T shirts.

Yikes. Hope you find what jabbed him.

I searched my back yard and found black hairs on the edge of a loose door on my storage shed. The door has been secured.

Hope he heals up well.

Fernando had the drain removed yesterday. He is doing OK, no infection. He gets the stitches out next week.
