I know, not a pet, but the poor little fellow, flew into our garage & wouldnt fly out.  He finally got so tired, he landed on my wifes head. She picked him up & took him out
to the feeder, but just sat in her hand.

put him where he can reach the sugarwater with his beak, he may be too tired to even fly.

if he doesn't eat real soon he is dead

He finally perked up, drank some good stuff & flew off.  Glad to say he made it

Had a hummingbird fly into my sunroom once;  took about 3 hours to get her out.

She hovered for all three of those hours.

I have a feeder on the deck. One flew right into the french doors and knocked himself out.

I picked him up and held him for about 5 minutes, then he flew off.

It's not uncommon for us to be sitting in the living room and hear and "thud" and look up to see a hummingbird flying away after running into the doors.

That is awesome. I love hummingbirds. They are my favorite birds. I'm bummed out we only have the ruby throated humming birds here.

If it is drinking while perched, then it is simply a "bird" at that point.

We have a bunch of feeders on our back deck.  Usually only the ruby throated (Anna's I think) are around.  Early this last spring some shorter stockier ones came by for a couple of days.  The clan of Anna's ran them off though.  What was interesting is that we could see and hear the dive bombing bird-fights, and hear them scolding each other off in the trees.  We still have lots of the Anna's around.

They sound like huge bugs when they buzz around our heads.
