Picked it up, next on my read list. It bumped seven other books down since I like your stories and writing very much.

Can I plug a comic book that a friend is working on? Kickstarter begins soon, and apparently he has been approached by a publisher.

Fair enough

If anyone is curious, they can Google Voodoo Detective by R. Thomas Favino. The Facebook page will have all the info one might need.

Just finished Glory Boy and was thoroughly entertained, damn good read.  Working on Birthright now.  I have seen a big improvement in your craft from your earlier books like Duty, Honor, Planet.  Keep up the good work Arfcom Brother!

Thanks, sir.

I whipped those weapons up in a 3d program and did a few screen captures.  The Kindle Cover creator feature handles the layout.  It's pretty drag-and-drop.  I like the effect.

I need to start investing in some pro covers, now, going forward.  Time to start crawling through Deviant Art for artists.

Best,
JBR

I tried that route.  Those people in Deviant Art want like $4-500 for just the unformatted illustration.  I can do formatting myself, but I'm not paying that much for an unlettered illustration.

I tried a few different options before figuring out my cover art. Local comic book guy wasn’t even close to capturing what I was after, famous dudes wanted stupid amounts of money. Finally found a guy named Paul from Create Imaginations who does computer graphic renderings and formats it too. I liked him enough to use him for three books. Cost me about $120 per. He was a bit of a compromise doing the renderings but couldn’t deny the quality.

Still wish I could have found someone to pencil out why I had in my head.

Does it count if I write but I haven't been published / paid for it yet?

I am working on a novel at the moment that takes place a century after a near apocalyptic plague.  Though the plague was cured, its unique effects end up creating a situation that poses an existential threat to human survival.  It's against this backdrop that the book follows the trials and difficulties of a few people who have to navigate the mess they find themselves in.

It might even be good if I ever to get where I'm worth a damn as a writer

I am pretty close to finishing the third and last book in my series, semi-grimdark fantasy (think Abercrombie, Glenn Cook, et al). The first book is "The Dead God's Due".

I do esoteric airplane/military stuff.  Just finished third in the series about a crippled missionary pilot turned mercenary.

Really envy you military science fiction guys.  Very cool genre.  Wrote science fiction as a kid and really enjoyed it but can't seem to do it as an adult.

Relaunch!

Think of it as a mix of Gladiator and Pacific Rim, set in an interdimensional junction controlled by some nasty, yet polite, little bastards.

I managed to work "87," "Blade At 45," and a few other bits of Arfcom goodness in there.

Rick Partlow hooked me up with a great cover artist, Bill Frisbee.  Thanks, Rick.
Code Of Armor is now available in softcover and Kindle, including Kindle Unlimited.

But, i have paid for a few of your books. Mil sci-fi is my favorite.

Nice!

If I might make a suggestion, I think maybe your blurb should be a bit more spread out, with shorter and more grabby sentences.

Probably. But I don't know how to write short and concise, and I'm not working with an editor/publisher or anything who can keep me under control.

I've got a few novels and novellas on Amazon.  Most I posted here in serial form.  Post apocalypse type stuff.

The work I'm proudest of is The Spartan's Last March.  30 reviews on Amazon and a 4.5 rating (One negative post was a rant about electronic media.  I don't think the poster even read my book).  I'm posting the follow-up in the Essential Survival Guides and Fiction section here on AR15.com

https://www.amazon.com/Spartans-Last-March-J-G-Elliott-ebook/dp/B00G70KEEE

I also have a New American Civil War type series.  First book is here:

I just bought flip of the coin.  I already had everything else you've put on Amazon.

I didn't realize that there was a book 1.  I guess i didn't look hard enough. Lol

There isn't really a description of the book, it just says it's book 1 of the series.  Is there a reason for that?

I posted this in the sci-fi thread but why not post it here too. I'm like his unofficial promoter.

A buddy of mine wrote a dystopian sci-fi novel and self-published it last year. If anybody's interested and is a prolific reader, he'd greatly appreciate any feedback.

The Rinzer Chronicles

For full disclosure, he did have the manuscript professionally critiqued which led to a structural edit, but line and copy-edited it himself to save some dough. (There might be some grammatical mistakes) He just had a free ebook promotion which ended last month and is having another one on December 25th to December 29th, if you don't want to pay and read it for free then. If you or a family member have Kindle unlimited however, you can read it for free now and don't have to wait until December.

He'd like feedback on anything. Overall plot, pacing, flow, character development, etc. Did you like it, hate it? Was it dark enough? Are there things he can do to make it better? This is his first novel. He basically wants to know whether he has what it takes to be an author or should he quit while he's ahead?
