Any other Warhammer 40000 fans here?  Not a gamer, but like the books. Especially the Space Marines books.  If you r looking for new to you scifi, give em a try. Start with the Space Wolf Omnibus.

I've read a bunch, but I think the Eisenhorn trilogy is far and away the best.

In the last week I've read 2 of the new Space Marines Battles Books series, Helsreach and Hunt For Voldorius.  They were good reads.

I've never read any Warhamer books. What should I start with?

I would start with one of the omnibus novels.  Usually combines 3 into 1 large paperback for 1/2 the cost.  The first one I read was Ciaphas Cain: Hero of the Imperium.  I would suggest you start with the Space Wolf Omnibus.  Excellent read, and good characters IMHO.  Other good Omnibus' are the Eisenhorn and The Founding.

Gaunts ghosts.  Dan Abnett is one of my favorite story tellers.

I dont think you could go wrong with Gaunt's Ghosts (Imperial Guard which is basically conscripted army) or Space Wolf (which is about space marines, not your ordinary soldier) to start, Secondly the Horus Heresy series is also pretty good.   there is a omnibus for some of the gaunt's ghosts books and the space wolf books. amazon has used ones for cheap but usually get you on shipping as most dont seem to combine ship or id buy a ton at once.

I started with Ciaphas Cain and it's easily remained my favorite series. I think it's format as an autobiography and the footnotes really help ease you into the world. I also like all the funny little cultural references...Captain Horatio Bugler, Popsicles, etc.

I also just recently caught a funny reference in Fulgrim. During the battle with the Diasporex "Coordinated waves of bombers crippled Medusa's Glory and improbably destroyed the Heart of Gold."
