Wow... I'm so sorry for your loss.

She was my age.

My wife is six years older than I, and her family has an extensive history of cancer (her dad died of it, one of her brothers died from it, and her sister has had it twice). She gets regular screenings every year. But I don't think she's done her summer screening yet. And she's had this weird cough for several weeks that just won't go away. I'm going to send the link to this thread to her and tell her to get in there!!!

I'm very sorry to hear about losing your wife. It's a feeling no one can understand unless they've been through it. My wife was diagnosed with PBC in 1978 and we were told there was no treatment and that it was always fatal. She lived a wonderful 18yrs. with very few symptoms. She passed in 95 while waiting for a transplant. My son had complained for months about a back pain and a "stitch" in his side. When he finally found a doctor that put all his symptoms together he found that he had incurable liver cancer and had from 30-y60 days to live. We found a great oncologist and he treated him back to what seemed like normal and he lived another 18 months and died just a year after his mother..he was 34.
Thank you for posting. I know it was hard but it may get someone to look at symptoms that they or one of their family may have. If you or a loved one has a disease that can be treated by a transplant MAKE them go in for an evaluation immediately.
