1984 Gibson Flying V, cherry red, ebony keyboard, Dirty Finger pickups and a factory installed Gibson marked Kahler bridge with locking nut.

2000 fender American Standard Stratocaster, sunburst body and maple neck. it is completely stock and plays and sounds wonderful.

20004 Ibanez SA220QM a Guitar Center exclusive with EMG 81/85 pickups installed.

2006 TJ Monster custom built guitar.
It has a mahogany body with maple top, ebony keyboard, original Floyd Rose trem and an EMG 81 pickup. It is ugly as sin but plays much better than the Gibson V.

2005 Takamine 12 sting acoustic/electric.

The amp for now is a Marshall Valvestate VS265. Yeah i know get a real tube amp. I play mostly in my home so it suits my needs just fine.

My pedal is a Digitech GNX-3 but I really only use the delay and flanger.
The overdrive, stereo chorus and spring reverb in the Marshall sound great.

I've played guitar since I was big enough to physically lift one.

Over my the span of my life I've owned a metric shitload of guitars and amps, from the cheap & ratty to the ultra expensive. Usually many at a time.

Sadly, I also had a very unhealthy appetite for self-destructive behavior. I've lost more good instruments than some have ever seen in their lifetime.

The sex, drugs, and rock & roll days are all over now (well, the booze and drugs anyway).


These days I keep it simple.

Fender Strat Hard Tail, built from a '98 Big Apple (American Standard with humbuckers). The Seymour Duncan humbuckers were removed and replaced with a set of L-280S noiseless singles and Q-Filter made for me by Bill & Becky Lawrence before they moved to CA. Bone nut and fretwork by Ronnie Griffin.

'00 Martin D-18, stock except for bone nut and saddle, also by Ronnie Griffin.

'98 Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10. 12AX7 preamp tubes replaced with 5751 to mellow out the tone.

POD XT, for when I want to get "creative."

Peavey Falcon w/ vintage style PUs for clean tones and my homebuilt 5 watt JCM800 (red amp in background) for my dirty tones.




Peavey Nitro with a hot humbucker for dirty tones and a Seymour Duncan 84-40 (in background) for clean tones.

I post this picture a lot, but it just oozes tone so I haven't upgraded to anything yet.

Those Xiphos look badass.  How's the weight balance on it?

The body is mahogany and it's very light, but the head tends to weigh it down. Easily fixed though with a proper strap that has enough grip to stay in place.




It sounds great and plays great too.

I've acquired too much gear with too little skill.  It's what happens when you don't have much time anymore to play, but have 20 years worth of Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS).   I'm just a guy who acquired noncollectible nonvintage stuff that makes reasonable sound; have a background in recording & radio, but haven't yet developed the skillset or need for boutique stuff.

For amps, right now I'm using a slightly modded Mesa SOB head with custom built 1x12 cabinets loaded with EVM-12Ls.
This amp is due for major mods in the future, after I get my main amp back from its overhaul/rebuild.
My main amp is (was) a fully custom made all tube 50 watt channel switcher with a gorgeous, huge clean tone, and a very aggressive,



super high gain lead channel.   It always was used with a 1/3 octave Alesis DEQ230 digital EQ in the effects loop, plus time effects



(chorus, reverb, etc) provided by a Peavey dual Deltafex processor, too.   Using the digital programmable EQ I can set up many subtle



or major tonal variations and quickly switch through them.    It was a very ballsy,  big toned amp with incredible gain levels,  which



could go toe to toe with just about any amp you could drag up for comparison.
I say WAS, because it's being completely rebuilt and redesigned.  It had some problems that had to be fixed,  a bad power transformer



being chief among them,   and it needed to be simplified,  and its basic tone (without an EQ in the loop) needed to be revoiced.  This time,



it's going to be centered more around the tone circuit of a classic Hiwatt,  but we're going to keep the gain levels pegged at "STUPID!!!"



like I like it.    
Essentially,  this time around the things I didn't use are being designed out of the amp.  What remains is what I actually used,  and then



with some improvements.
It should be quite the knuckledragger.    I'm really looking forward to its (re)delivery to me.
Even the cosmetics are being totally redone,  in a style usually reserved for instrument panels in the cockpit of military aircraft.   The



front panel is a painted, engraved, and backlit piece of Plexiglas.  The backlighting changes color according to what the operating mode



of the amp is.    Even the knobs are backlit,  and are real mil spec avionics instrument knobs that cost me 20 bucks apiece!
I've got more money tied up in the cosmetic treatment of this amp than many people pay for their amp and guitar combined!
Even the panel backlighting is custom made. I had to have custom LED backlight boards designed and built just for this project.

I'd love to see some pics when you get it back.  I toyed with the idea putting some magic eye tubes on the front panel of one of my amp builds and have them dance to the music.  But I'm always too anxious when it comes time to box them up.  I just want to play it.

I've been collecting for almost 30-years, so I've amassed quite a bit of stuff.  I need to find the time to photograph it all....

I have an Acoustic Electric Takamine EAN10C. Cedar Top with Mahogany sides and back. IMHO Cedar tops sound the best. A cedar top Takamine will sound like Angels singing compared to a spruce top Martin.
I also have a Schector Damien Elite Floyd Rose with a Roland Cube 40. I also have a Pre-Lawsuit Japanese Les Paul Copy that I restored to playable condition that is atleast 40 years old and was in pieces crammed in a box that once belonged to my father.

Getzen renaissance trumpet. It served me very well playing classical music in high school, and it is one of the many reasons I am by far the loudest lead trumpet player at ASU.



My favorite guitar is my 50's style MIM strat. I have a blues junior, but have come to much prefer the Vox AC4TV. That amp doesn't even need a tube screamer up front. It's awesome.

Currently being built for me:  A full custom channel switching amp based generally on the concept of


a very extensively modded 1967 "Black Flag" 50 watt Marshall Plexi.
All this is WAY overkill for a total hack/bedroom commando like me, but I'd have it no other way.
 

Well, I have about two weeks of actual learning to play under my belt. I have a Recording King acoustic and on Tuesday I went and purchased my first electric...a new American Telecaster Deluxe. I guess that is overkill for a newbie, but I wanted it and am in a position to buy what I want within reason. It feels awesome just to hold it.

My amp is a blues junior.

Now I am eyeing a Gibson SG Jr. In my buddies pawn shop...this shit could be as bad as firearms.

I'm going to represent the woodwind side of things. I've seen a lot of great looking guitars and drum sets, now I'm going to show you what I've got to work with.

If you can't tell, I like Yamaha products I had more pics of the horns, but they disappeared when my old lap top went tits up.

What I have is of no importance. It is what I want to own that is the driving force.

I'm currently in two different bands so I maintain two different guitar rigs so I don't have to keep swapping gear around.
One is a known 80's thrash metal band, we only play a couple of times a year at those "nostalgia" metal shows, the other is
my main band which is more of a Doom type thing.

For the thrash metal thing I use a Mesa Boogie Mark IV(b) Long head on a Mark series Mesa
Boogie 4x12 halfback cab. In the FX loop of the amp I run a DBX Compressor/Gate, a Hush Super C
and a Sabine rack tuner. My pedalboard is a Pedaltrain Pro with a Morley Lil' Alligator volume pedal, a Morley Tremonti wah Korg Pitch Black tuner
into a Line 6 M-13 multieffects unit for some delays/chorus when needed. Most of the drive is from the Mark IV but I use a
custom overdrive for focusing. I have a Wampler Super Plextortion on there too, in case I'm using some backline other than mine and need some more drive.
The board is powered by a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus. For guitars, I usualy play the 2 custom prototype guitars by WizardStyx that were made for me.

For the Doom band, I use Orange amps, a Rocker 30 and a DT-30 Dual Terror. Each amp feeds an old fuzzy gray Carvin 4x12 loaded with 100watt BR-12 speakers
that were made for Carvin by Eminence. Fantastic sounding speakers. The pedalboard for this rig is another Pedaltrain Pro board with a Pedal-Pal (Large) right side
mount for a Morley Lil' Alligator volume and a Morley George Lynch Dragon 2 wah into a Carl Martin Octa-Switch Mk II.
In the loops of the Carl Martin switch I have an MXR CSP202 Custom Comp, MXR M77 CMB Overdrive (awesome overdrive!!), Boss GE-7 Graphic EQ,
Fulltone MDV-2 univibe, Boss CE-2 Chorus, Eventide SPACE (with an exp pedal), TC Electronic PGS Alter Ego Delay and an ISP Decimator 2 noise reduction.
Guitars, a '90's Gibson SG Jr. Re-Issue, Gibson SG Standard, Gibson Les Paul Traditional (Honey Burst) and a Gibson Les Paul Signature T (Vintage Burst).

I've got a Taylor T5 semi acousic that I play acousitcally or through a 60 watt crate acoustic amp, and a PRS Tim Mahoney SE that I play through a Boss GT10 effects processor into an Orange Crush 35 amp.

Eleven Rack with Behringer MIDI controller running into Alto Ts112a 's.

For guitars I have an LTD Mh 350 nt, an Ibanez s570dxqm, and an Ibanez Artcore AF85.

Just getting my collection started again after taking a long break from playing.
