I used to think they were some metro one hit wonder. I have about 40Gig of MP3s, some of which I have never listened to. I cranked them up and actually they pretty much kick ass, and I listen to them all the time. Do I need to surrender my mancard or does anybody else think they kick ass? Come on, This Ain't a Scene, is is a G-D Arms race!? |
I've never seen the retards, but they have some good tunes.

From what I have heard...the guy on the far right is fruity. Not sure about the rest. Their music is catchy, but most of the kids think they have reached the "teh ghey" level. To tell you the truth...I'm sick of the whole freaking tight girl jeans (which they actually are for those of you that are not in "the know") that "guys" are wearing these days. I find it hard to believe that chicks dig guys that shop in the same section that they do and spend MORE time on their hair then they do. I know a few young "males" that carry a bag with a flat iron and touch-up make up at all times?!?! WTF?!?!? ![]() I tried to explain to them that in my early days...we would have called that "cross dressing." This concept was lost on them |

+ 1 on "teh ghey" Perhaps I am getting old, but I have reached the point that I truly do not understand why a man would shave his chest, wear makeup, use more crap on his hair than a woman, or think it's cool to be seen as a whining looser of a pseudo-homosexual (or non-pseudo-homosexual) that can do nothing more on a guitar than wear it as low as possible and play the same three or four chords over and over again. Yes, you may surrender you man card at the nearest range. |
That's the thing. I don't watch MTV, I haven't bought more than 1-2 CDs a year in a decade (I get all my music on .mp3) and I couldn't give a rat's ass what a band looks like, how they interview, or what their lifestyle involves. I judge them only on what I hear, and they sound ok to me. |
|
Not a fan. Funny thing is, at least one of them used to be in a fuggin' hardcore/metal band (Pete Wentz). But this pop/rock shit makes them money. Pretty sure dude is not gay in the literal sense, but damn, he really does look like a toolbag. Chicks love him for some reason though. Something tells me they never loved him as much when he sang for Arma Angelus! |
For the same reason young men have been doing stupid stuff for thousands of years. Pussy. You can go ahead and believe things are different now than when you were young, but it's not. Maybe you didn't get involved in the more extreme fashions, but others did, I remember standing in a bar filled with guys dressed like Flock of Seagulls and Girls dressed like Siouxsie. Now you can claim it's gay, but there was A LOT of Hetero sex hooking up in those bars, The goofy Go-Go's looking chicks were fucking the hell out of the whimpy little Psycadelic Furs guys. |
Awesome, that other band is every bit as awful as Fall Out Boy |
|
Ok, ok...I said ghey too but am I hypocrite for having an "Avenged Sevenfold" CD? I first heard them on the Madden 04 soundtrack and I thought Chapter Four was a cool fuckin song, especially the part towards the end with the guitar solos and screaming... So...Am I teh ghey for having 1 A7X cd? Chapter 4 With stage names like "Johnny Christ" and all that make up I would wager I may be (but at least they can play) |
Ghey then, ghey now - there is no excuse due to context of time. If you had the Flock Of Seagulls haircut you may also surrender your card at the nearest range. Some of us never had to resort to extremes for attention from the fairer sex. That would include looking gay on purpose. |
Actually, I was more into the Steve Stevens look, and I think that maybe you need to recheck the definition of gay, cuz I'm pretty sure that it doesn't include male/female sex. |

One of the things I have done as a teacher is ask my students to share music recommendations. They listen to a lot of "classics" (dear God, when did I get old) like Nirvana and old Metallica, and are surprised when they find out I've been listening to that music most of my life. (It really screws with their heads to tell them I've seen Nirvana in concert, and went to Lollapalooza twice). Then we get into stuff that I've always liked that was way before MY time, like Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin, and I find out that they like it too. I've found that some of their music isn't that bad. For example, I have a couple of Fallout Boy tracks on my iPod. |
No, because while some of the people in A7X dress like fucking idiots, they still make good music. Well, they do now. M Shadow's "screamy" voice on the first 2 albums was fucking horrid |
Take it easy mud, I'm just having a little fun with folks in the thread, which I assumed was all light hearted and in good fun. I grew up during the 80s and know just what you're talking about. |
Woa there boss, what gave you the impression I was upset? |
Just making sure - polite society and all |
