honest question, I only really ever use light distortion (which I get by dialing up the knob marked "gain" on my amp).
In the modern day they have adopted the terms differently from their original meaning. Technically speaking they are pretty much the same except the process of overdriving your amp creates distortion. Nowadays, overdrive is considered to be more of a preamp that provides additional overdrive to a power amp. |
