After graduation, I finally have free time and am currently in the market for a second 6-string electric guitar. I currently have a Mexican Fender Telecaster and a Washburn 7-string. I am looking for a 6-string guitar that will play the music that I generally play (metal). I am somewhat on a budget. I have been eyeing up the ESP LTD EC-256.
I was wondering anyone on this site has any experience with this guitar or similar model. This guitar will be a traveling guitar as well so the rugged paint job does not bother me one bit, I actually like the aged sun burst look. Any input is appreciated. |

I've never handled one of their Les Paul style guitars, so I can't help ya there. But I have messed around with their strat style guitars & I like 'em just fine, since they have a similar feel to Jackson Guitars. And like KevhogAZ said, check Ebay. Also www.samash.com has had really good deals on ESP/LTD guitars in the past, so they're worth checking out. |

I'm really not a fan of ESPs. They're competently made, I guess, but don't have much of a "feel" to them. Not for me, anyway. I'd choose an Ibanez in the same price range before an ESP. At a higher price point I might consider a PRS but in truth nothing beats a Gibson if the price is right. So a used Gibson is the winner, for me. Or it would be, if I was in the market to actually BUY a guitar, but I build my own so I don't have to. I just make exactly what I want. What I don't understand is why you wrote that you're looking for a "6 string" guitar. 6 strings are the default value. If you say you're looking for a guitar, everyone presumes you want a 6 string model. If you wanted a 7 string model, THEN you'd specify it. It just sounds funny to hear someone say "I'm looking for a 6 string guitar". Kinda makes you want to ask them, "So what part of Kentucky are ya from?" CJ |

Thats why I have to specify, I guess it's a bad habit for me.
