They turned me down.....Actually they just sent my paperwork back with no explanation after 6 weeks. Left 4 messages, no reply. Finally caught the lady and she said I wasn't an "airline or cargo pilot". I work for two different 135s––on which I *can* be authorized by the DO to carry––but they didn't want to hear it.
Unless you work for something they know (i.e. American, Delta, Southwest, etc) they're not even going to talk to you. I realize that this was designed for FFDOs, but they should have just said "FFDO's only" rather than "Commercial Airline or Cargo Pilots". It's a hell of a deal though. I wish it would have worked out. |

BTW, when he initially asked me about it I had told him I believed you had to be Part 121, but said he should call to confirm. They had him send in his 135 stuff and approved it. |

HK might not know the difference between 135 and 121.
FYI Guys, Glock and Springfield Armory offer a discount to commercial pilots on their whole product lines. They both sell to commercial pilots at the LE individual officer rate. Contact OMB Guns for Glocks. Contact Springfield directly, ask for LE sales office. |

That way you'll save on shipping. Only $10 for 2 guns. Ask for the LE Dept, then the Homeland Defender's discount. $399 for a 17, 19, 22, 23, etc with three mags. They'll ship straight to your local FFL. |

That's exactly what I do. I tried to explain the to the lady that we're landung out in the middle of no where, picking up people that can and do get combative. We're bound by all the same rules and regs as an "airline", etc. Like I said, she didn't care. How long ago did your buddy get the deal? I heard the early guys (2+ yrs ago) got it no problems. My attempt was back in March. |

I'll shoot him an email to see if I can find out more. |

Well, here's the reply I got from my buddy (Part 135 EMS, in case those reading didn't catch it earlier) about how it went down. He didn't say when he did it, but I know it was earlier this year.
It took about 6-8 weeks to get it done. It was really a painless process, I think the factory is just backed up. It was $540 with shipping to whatever FFL you want. Tell them to just send in their ID, license, and the license of the FFL (can be faxed in separately). The lady in charge at H&K, Leslie, doesn't have a clue as to who is an "airline or cargo pilot" so they should get it just like me. |

And at the point I spoke with her, she told me I wasn't an "airline or cargo pilot"––even though I fly people and organs around for money. Perhaps your buddy's company name is something more generic and doesn't imply EMS (xxxxAir, xxxCharter, etc.) Does he have an ATP? Maybe she's looking where is says "Airline Transport Pilot", rather than "Commercial Pilot" on mine. I was planning on sending my paperwork in again, but I was going to let some time pass so they'd forget my name. |

The company name definitely screams Medical/EMS service, and all pilots are req'd to have their ATP. (I got mine while I was working there) |
