Nope, not a Glock but the right engine of the Barron I was right seat in. Happened at about 200 AGL,made it back to the airport but not the same runway,,,, well almost made a runway. All is well, not a scratch on the airplane. Got pretty interesting for a while!
Will find out what broke tomorrow.

Update, found out the prop failed, mechanic manually twisted blades into 'normal' position from feathered and the engine started and ran OK. So, two new three blades props and spinners (currently two blade). Still gonna look at everything, that was a strange failure, I bet there is more going on out there on the right wing. |

I thought the Baron was a peach to handle single engine. I liked them a lot. Now a Pa-23! It would barely fly on 2 engines and as Ron White said so well, It's the one carrying us to the scene of the accident. WJ I think the Apache would have been a better airplane if it would have stayed rag and wood, like God and Stintson intended. That said, I like the Apache. Other than completely underpowered, it handled nicely. Doing S/E work, staying aloft requireed absolute adherance to every S/E requirement...prompt feathering, trim, bank control, anticipation for turns, etc. The Apache is a better plane than the Seneca I, which is a twin engine Lance, except a Lance has enough power to pull a string out of a cat's ass. I'm pretty sure that the Seneca I has less power on two engines than a Lance on one. I heard the later Senecas are better, and the V is a peach. The I didn't have enough horizonal stab for the increased weight up front. I'd send every I to South America as drug smuggling airplanes, so nothing decent would be stolen for awhile. The Seminole is ok, but it is what it is, a Training A/C. Why they didn't put bigger engines on it, I'll never know. |

Searching for a 470 to rebuild,,, Ouch The good news is that Ive found that engine overhaul shops lately have been hungry for work and the turnaround times have been amazingly fast compared to last year or more. |
