My son was supposed to SOLO today but the damn weather closed in on him. Yesterday was great, but it got too late for him to solo. DUAT says: METAR KDEC 272254Z 00000KT 5SM BR OVC009 01/M01 A3015 RMK AO2 SLP215 T00061006 TAF AMD KDEC 272158Z 272218 36004KT 3SM BR OVC007 FM0600 07005KT 4SM BR OVC010 FM1100 09008KT 2SM -RASN BR OVC005 TEMPO 1418 1SM -SN BR OVC003 He was hoping to solo while I am up here visiting. I understand how that goes. I was lucky, I got to solo a couple days after my stage check, and did both of my supervised solo's within a couple days, and my ramp solo right after that. I did have to wait a bit for my solo x-country, and my final ramp solo took a bit too. Some of the students I know waited a couple weeks for their solo's. One guy got hit by a car the morning he was supposed to solo, and ended up having to wait a few weeks to fly again, then do a couple refresher flights. Others had weather delays. |
