I live just south of Quantico and helos fly over the house all the time; mostly AH-1s, CH-46s and CH-53s (well, no mass for the 53s).  Tonight there were two MV-22s, which is the first time I've seen them over the house since they were doing testing years ago.  A couple of quick pics as I grabbed the camera and ran out just as they went by.  Sorry, very low light and naturally bad camerman.    It was interesting to see the second ship already in transition even though they're 8 miles from the airfield.

I remember when I was at OCS I hated that damn VH-3 that flew so low at the chow hall 3 times a day.

Anything else was cool.

Why no more 53s? We are doing away with the 46 not the 53.

My mistake, they are retiring the Sea Stallions and the Super Stallions will keep flying.

They are fun to watch.

If your ever driving on I-5 near Oceanside there are a lot of practice strips right off the side of the freeway through the Camp Penfleton area. Most days its like a mini airshow courtesy of the USMC.

Last time I was through, I stopped and got some great video of a V-22, practicing a hover in a confined area. They had another strip not far, that looked to be set up for sling load training.

God! Hollywood Marines live in some beautiful country down that way. Twentynine Palms on the other hand! Well, that's all I have to say about that.

Was stationed on Quantico as a 53 guy turned H-3 guy.  No love for the V-22 but nice pics.  Always was a fan of the quote outside of Jacksonville, "Pardon our noise, it's the sound of freedom".
