If you are looking at the jobs side of it:  www.flightinfo.com and www.airlinepilotforums.com Very jaded, though...

www.aopa.org  has a board buried in its website... it's pretty active

www.pilotsofamerica.com same idea but free

www.purpleboard.net same idea again

www.vansairforce.net for building vans RV series airplanes... good info in there

Flightinfo.com is like watching Mach and I argue, except a whole board of it, and not as respectfully.

To be honest, most aviator forums are full of assholes whining about how shitty their lives are, and wanting to get out. Or get hired. Or complain.

I go to a couple of military forums as well, but most dont like the Army rotorheads much

Adding http://www.beechtalk.com/

This forum's nice in that it's mostly pilot/owners who can afford Bonanzas/Barons. As you can imagine, it leans pretty far to the right.

Funny you mention that.  I have noticed most of the aviation community was middle of the road or a little right about 3 years ago.  There seems to be a sudden shift right.

Most of the type clubs have a forum where you can get detailed info on whatever type you have or are interested in getting.   I belong to two of these and find them very good at keeping me abreast of issues, AD's, operating tips etc.

Secret Projects Forum

http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/

A great forum about various classified projects and aerospace development programs, thankfully without any crackpot UFO conspiracy theories, tales of alien abductions, etc.

There are also forums there dealing with various army and naval classified programs, albeit not with the same volume of the aerospace postings.
