Broke out a tin from my cellar. I’ve had this since 2015.

Nording Hunter Blend Labrador in a MM Country Gentleman.

Does anyone have any intel on a current similar tobacco since this was produced by McClelland and no longer available? I’m having no luck finding anything recommended that’s close.

Very heavy Perique.

In a blind tasting I’d have guessed they blended Apricots & Cream with Old Joe Krantz.

Delicious, and leaves a great smell on the mustache/beard.

Had some Orlik Golden Slice in the Peterson 05 System this morning. Had some Macbaren Navy Flake yesterday.

Both were good, and I’m glad I picked both up to try, but I liked the Navy Flake best of the two. I put the Orlik in a jar to age. Maybe I’ll break it back out in 6 months.

Got off work at noon today absolutely wonderful weather to sit on the screened smoking porch and read a bit and smoke a few bowls.
The book was “Spy” by David Wise about the capture of Robert Hansen.
A very good book by the way and how high up he was in the FBI and what damage he did.
Seems he operated almost a decade and turned over quite a bit of damaging information even as the Soviet Union was crumbling.

MM corncob was the selected pipe, a fairly new pipe and smoked only twice before.

First bowl was some Tatiana cherry flavored machine cut.
A bit dry and I over packed the bowl, had some trouble keeping it going so I kind of volcanoed it.
Ended up a bit ashy at the finish.
I have rehydrated it with some pretty good Calvados brandy. I’m going to let it seep a few weeks and see what it does.
All in all I wasn’t happy with round one.

Second bowl was Low Country Waccamaw. A blend of Virginia and Perique.
Kind a a long rough cut like it had been pressed when first made and broken into strips.
I have had this tin about five years. In a briar bowl I can taste the peppery Perique quite noticeably but it was more subtle in the corncob pipe.
Very good nicotine hit from this one.

Third bowl again was the Waccamaw blend trying to finish up the tin.
I had this one packed perfectly and it was a very satisfying smoke.
Spent about five hours reading and enjoying the perfect smoking weather in a couple of months it will be too hot to sit outside.

After 4” of rain yesterday the sun came out.
Smoking porch time!
I just bought. $38 Dr. Grabow Grand Duke from Cup a Joes and loaded it up with C&D Blockaid Runner I have had cellared since 2009.
A very very smooth and delightful smoke.
