A neat little video from Cigar Afficiando about using the three-match method of cigar lighting:

I like it.  I don't frequently use matches but I do something similar with a torch.  I will have to try it with matches once I get a chance to run some matches down.

Interesting.

Huh, I've never seen that done before now.

I'll give it a try, but I prefer to light my cigar in under 15 seconds if I can get away with it.

I'll have to try that.

Its ok the first couple of times, but I just don't have the patience for it.
I usually use a ronson jet flame, toast the foot in about 15-20 seconds
....puff puff
If you have the time and smoking a cigar is more of a ritual for you, than I can understand going through the process.

I always fully light my cigar with the lighter before smoking.  I do cut the cap first.  I mostly do it because it gives me a more even light.

I like it... I'm gonna try it out sometime soon...

I admit to doing it only a few times.  Obviously, you must have the time and the proper wind conditions to do it.

I've done it a couple of times, but it took more than 3 matches to do it.

I posted the same link last year, and came up with a modified version for torches, which I use to light all my cigars now.
Basically light the foot before cutting the head, only draw back is no way of knowing if the cigar have a tight draw or plugged, especially with young ISOMs, which tend to be tight when new.

I've got those short CI matches so I'll have to make it a 6 match light.

If your lucky!  He is tossing the match by the time it gets as short as short ci matches!

guessing it would take a whole box of CI matches.
interesting routine wonder if any actual benefit?
