allrighty, went out yesterday and purchased a small desktop humidor, Got it all prepped and set up and thought I would post some pics. http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq52/ttushooter/thread%20pics/DSC01907.jpg with my small collection so far. http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq52/ttushooter/thread%20pics/DSC01908.jpg I have a Havana Cohiba on the left there from my dad. He always has some on had as he works in Kuwait. a couple Tatuaje's and an Olivia. I figure this setup will work fine for me. I only smoke cigars once in a while as pipes are normally my go to smoke, but want to keep a couple on hand rather than my prior routine of driving to the shop, picking one up and smoking it that day. anyways, just thought I would share. Very nice OP. I have two suggestions to make your humidor work better for you: 1) Season your humidor before use http://cigars.about.com/od/seasoninganewhumidor/ss/0061702c.htm- You need to give the spanish cedar time to absorb humidity without the presence of cigars. Otherwise they can damage your smokes. 2)You need a humidity gauge. You can get one cheap and it'll make it easier to keep humidity levels in check. This is as important, IMO, as seasoning your humidor. ETA: I really like the red label Tatuajes. Good and spicy. |

I did all the stuff for seasoning the humidor listed by that site, except to wipe it again and wait another 24 hours. So I'll hit that up again. and yup, a hygrometer is on my list of stuff to soon purchase. |

Congrats.
Few thoughts (some of which have already been mentioned) 1. Make sure the humi is seasoned. 2. Throw away that hockey puck humidifier and get either heartfelt beads or similar to put in there. I ruined about $200 worth of cigars once using one of those hockey pucks that I over filled :/ Welcome to the habit! In no time, you'll be building your own coolerdore. |

I ruined about $200 worth of cigars once using one of those hockey pucks that I over filled :// Did the same thing with the one that came with a cigar jar I got. Luckily I didn't have but a handful of cheap o's in it. Heartfelt has some spanish cedar that looks like a cigar with the beads inside it. Think it's the size of a cigar also. It's what I'm going to put in the jar that I'm sending to my father. ETA: the humidity beads in Spanish cedar shaped like a cigar are called humedad palo. Controls humidity up to 270 cubic inches. Take a look at them. As they look better than a black puck. Just my 2 copper colored Lincolns |

I did NOT season my new humidor, I was unaware I was supposed to. I've only had it a couple weeks now but it's full of sticks. Should I pull them out, season the humi, & refill? Or is it too late?? Sorry for the thread high jack OP, but I'm freaking out here... |

Sorry for the thread high jack OP, but I'm freaking out here... Your humidity levels will fluctuate enough to cause damage to your smokes. Me personally I'd pull the smokes and put them in a bag with a water pillow. Season humidor and put the smokes back in. It beats ruining your cigars. |

Don't freak out.
I can't agree with taking the cigars out and putting them in a ziplock with a damp cloth. To me, that is too much moisture concentrated in one area. Perhaps leave the cigars in the box and put a cup or plate/bowl of water in the box. If you're still worried, then I suggest you start smoking them now. More can always be purchased and maybe when that happens you're humidor will be in better shape, holding the humidity. |

looks good with the pipe collection I bet.
