A couple years ago, I had this remote start system installed.  Works great.  Unfortunately, I accidentally sent one of the remotes through the washing machine at least once or twice, and through the dryer at least 5 or 6 times.  It seems to be around this time my problems started.  If I use the remote to unlock the doors, I hear the unit cycle about every 10 seconds, and after 30 seconds the doors re-lock.  If I stop at a gas station and hit the start button to activate it so I can remove my key and leave it running while inside, the same thing happens.  Every 10 seconds, I hear the box cycle on and off and in 30 seconds the doors re-lock.  I think it has something to do with this chart, but I'm not sure.  Anyone know if there is some kind of a reset switch on these things or know what I can try?  CompuStar tech support hasn't been much help, they told me to program the new remote 3 times; I did that, and am still having these issues.  Any ideas?

ETA:  I noticed this thing has "ignition controlled door locks".  First, wtf does that mean?  Second, when this thing is doing its thing cycling the locks, I can also hear the unit clicking on and off as I slightly insert and remove the key into the ignition switch.  Why?

May not be your remote. I had a similar problem with my Ford Escape; the locks would randomly lock/unlock while I was driving. Turns out there was a loose connection going into the factory add-on alarm.  I found this out because the car failed to start for 3 days until I found the loose connector, dangling under the dash.

I'm just saying this because you may concentrate on the remote and overlook the real problem. Try removing the batteries from the remote; if the problem persists, it isn't the remote.

that sounds like a saftey feature so you dont leave your car unlocked.

i used to install astro's and you could manually program them through a series of switches but it was a major PITA. we had a handheld computer that would set all of the features in about a min.

i would take it back to where you had it installed and have them reprogram it. i bet that will fix the unit.

btw. the astros also had a led light that would flash diagnostic codes so you could see if the unit was functioning properly. maybe yours has something similar?

Thanks, I'll have to look harder for some loose connections as I haven't found anything yet.  I don't think it's the remote, but the unit itself.  Could something have shorted out in the remote in the wash and sent some kind of a programming signal to the unit in the car?

My unit does have a LED that flashes when it is active.  I have noticed it flashing at random times, after the thing has gone through its cycle of locking and unlocking but never thought to count the flashes.  Will have to keep an eye on that, thanks.

Should be a valet reset switch located under the dash or in the kick panel, You will have to get any compustar install manual and it will walk you through the process of resetting the alarm brain.  It could be as easy as holding in on the valet switch and cycling the ingnition a few times.  You could check out the12volt.com to see if anyone over there could help you abit more as there are a few installers that fequent the board.
