I got the grubs in my newly laid St. Augustine sod. Is it okay to put some grub killer on it, or do I need to wait until it's been down for a while??

Scotts GrubEx (the only one I recommend) can be applied anytime.  I believe there's a table on the back that details when to apply it for your particular area.

Are they negatively affecting your grass?

Primarily, you'll just see a bunch of June bugs....in uh...June....

Well let me give you a little bit of history first.

I recently did a lot of work in my back yard. (I have a thread floating around here somewhere) I did a lot of digging during
this work, and during the process unearthed a lot of big juicy survival show size grubs. They were at least 6-8 inches down in some
hard packed dirt. I never had any grass in the area until now after I put in the SOD. I also never saw a grub any shallower that 6-8
inches. I lifted up a corner on a piece of sod, and there were 2 grubs right at the surface under the sod undoubtedly munching away at it
So to answer your question it is too early to tell if they are doing any damage to the new stuff, but I don't want to take a chance.

We had 'em in our yard and we only figured it out once the grass was dying in patches!
I'd dose 'em now and kill those buggers!  It sounds as if they've already found the salad bar!

Just read the label to see about applying to newly laid sod.  I'm sure it's safe--but RTFM.

If you wait until the grass starts dying, then it will be too late.  Put the GrubEx down NOW and water it in.  I apply it to my lawn every year and have not had a grub problem in quite some time.

Put the grub x down now, then find some milky spore for long term.

GrubEx is a must have for my yard. I put it down every year. The first year that I lived here I had the whole lawn dry up and blow away. I didn't know WTF happened until I saw all the friggin June bugs.
