So im in a new home and we had a down pour all day today. I got home and there is about 1 foot left to the top of my sump pit before the water runs over. I have 1 1/2" PVC routed from the floor up to the sill and out of the house. Now I need to hook up the pump I bought to that existing PVC. So is there a rock solid setup to protect my basement? I also dont have any check valves or anything so what do I need |
+1 In addition, if you're planning to bury the discharge line outside and route it to a ditch or curb, then I suggest putting in an "overflow" outlet just after the 90* bend outside (long sweep T-Y fitting). That way the water will spill out of the "overflow" if the buried section of the line ever gets clogged, crushed, etc. The pipe at my parents home became clogged and luckily they installed this fitting or the basement would have become a shallow pond. |
| I just finished replacing 230' of 4" drain pipe for my sump pump system-good thing I had it set up so it would overflow if the pipe was blocked. After 18 years, the pipe was half full of a hard brick-like mineral deposit that broke loose in places and plugged up the pipe. I have to run it that far to reach a creek on my property. Lotta work! |
