| Anyone ever replace one of these ? Is it worth doing myself our, should I just get a new one?Its a top loading machine. Kenmore. About 7 years old. |
| Sears has a repair program where you pay a fixed price upfront and they come out and do a service call. they either fix it or credit you enough money to get a new machine. I would google like the guy said earlier and maybe try a 20 dollar fix and if it didn't work consider the fixed plan. my parents did it with a dishwasher and i think it cost 150 |

Keep this site in mind www.repairclinic.com/0001.asp Real helpful guide to get the parts you need and pictures to find where the parts go to when you get interrupted and forget how they fit back together

looks like i am too late.... I use to be a home appliance tech for sears back when i got out of the service in oct 98. FYI the transmissions seldomely go out in a toploader whirlpool/kenmore. I think i changed out maybe 2 in the 2 years I worked for sears. And I probably serviced over 1000 washers for sears in that time. The tranmssion is a very easy change out if needed though. Coupling is a piece of cake as you probably already know. All post 85 or so whirlpool/kenmores have NO BELTS, only a coupler. The water pump is direct drive from motor shaft as well. Ge's were junk in late 90's...couldnt tell ya how they are now. All Amanas are made by Maytag and are nothing like a maytag! (maytag bought amana a few years back). The current amana washers are absolutely nothing like the true amanas which were one of the top of the lines. |
