I'm replacing a ball valve in the supply line (3/4" copper) to my lawn sprinkler system.  What do you guys use for a heat shield when soldering up near insulation and framing members?

Thanks,
Dave

They sell a fireproof flexible pad at home depot. It's a lot like a dish cloth but fire retardant. Ask the HD plumber and he'll hook you up.

If it'll fit, I use a piece of cement board.

Even light guage sheet metal will work, just wet down the wood first.
