I painted my 10/22 in basically the same procedure except I was going for more of a "woodlands" type camo and I used an air brush. The krylon has seemed to hold up well and even if you do need a touch up its easy and cheap!

Very nice work there. As soon as I get the funds, I want to get another CavArms lower in a shade of green or sand and have at it. My current CA lower is one from the CavAid fundraiser and I don't want to dick it up...it is a modern day classic.

Some of the krylon colours aren't available anymore ... any suggestions ? How does the duracoat multicolor kit compares to this multicam refinish ?

Link 2 uses the multicolor kit. The author doesn't like the Multi Dark Brown...too light. I'd have to agree from his photo. Link 1 used Woodland Brown which looks pretty good. Link 1 Link 2 |

The above rifle is pretty sweet; I've seen it myself in real life.
When I get my Rem 700 SPS Tac, ccsmith will probably be painting it in a similar fashion. |

Thanks for the compliment. Now that I've lived with it some, I think I might have went a little overboard on the greens...for exactly the reasons you bring up. I also found a light green that was a better match to multicam than the apple green, but I can't recall the name right now. The apple green was a littlle bit on the 'florescent' side. I'll get that for you. If the green was too strong, my plan was to dust it with some khaki. I haven't taken it back out into the woods since the colors have changed. I'll try to get some pics this weekend if I'm not working. Thanks for reminding me. If I do dust it, I'll get pics of that too. and it costs a boat load...and requires disassembling the whole rifle....i looked into it lol. I'm talking like almost $1k for the rifle and all accessories.... But by far the best way to go if you have the coin. Glad you guys are still enjoying this how to.

My quasi variation of multicam. The separate colors show up a lot better in the sunlight, but even so, I didn't want to go with an exact copy of multicam cause it wouldn't work as well as this in the environment it'll be used in.
